Individual

Individuals compete a 90 sec routine to music with one of the 4 official apparatus.  They are evaluated in Difficulty, Artistry and Execution. Difficulty skills include, balances, turns, jumps, risks (throws of the apparatus with a minimum of two body rotations underneath) and Difficulties of Apparatus (apparatus skills and tricks meeting certain criteria such as "without eyes", "without hands" etc.).

Group

Groups of 5 compete two unique 2.5 minute routines to music. One routine where all athletes have the same apparatus and one where there are 2 of one apparatus and 3 of the other.  Evaluation is similar to individual routines but also includes Exchanges where athletes throw to each other and Collaborations where athletes work together to perform skills with the apparatus and body.

Younger athletes can compete in duets, trios, groups of 4 or 5 and only compete 1 routine, all with the same apparatus.

Many ways to participate

Rhythmic gymnastics teaches foundational movement patterns and promotes physical literacy. It is a competitive sport but also thrives as a recreational activity and a performance outlet.

Recreational

Gymnaestrada

AGG

Aesthetic group gymnastics (AGG) is a team discipline where a large group of gymnasts perform coordinated continuous movements, that test elements like speed, strength, flexibility, and balance.

Competitive

Compete individually or as a group provincially, regionally , nationally and even internationally.
